Puppy Foundation
The Good Citizen Dog Scheme is run by the Kennel Club, it was started in 1992 and its purpose is to encourage dog owners to train their dog to be socially acceptable.
The Puppy Foundation is open to dogs under one year of age, and each dog must complete a minimum of four weeks training before they can attempt the award.
The Puppy Foundation consists of the following:

Cleanliness and Identification

Attentive Response to Name

Play with Puppy

Socialisation
A) With a placid dog not known to the puppy
B) With an Adult Person not Known to the Puppy
C) With Noise Distraction

Handling and Inspection to Maintain Health

Puppy Recall

Basic Puppy Positions

Walking in a Controlled Manner

Stay for Approximately 10 Seconds

Take Article Away From Puppy

Food Manners
Bronze
The Bronze Test is open to all dogs, it is non competitive but is a control test designed o test an owners ability to control their dog in a domestic environment.
The Bronze level consists of the following tests.

Cleanliness and Identification

Collar and Lead

Walk on Lead

Control at Door or Gate

Controlled Walk Among People and Dogs

Stay on Lead for One Minuit

Grooming

Examination of Dog

Return to Handler

Responsibility and Care
Silver
The Silver test is a natural progression from the Bronze. To be eligible to take the Silver test a dog must first have passed the Bronze.
The Silver level consists of the following tests.

Play with Dog

Road Walk

Rejoin Handler

Stay in One Place for Two Minutes

Vehicle Control

Come Away from Distractions

Controlled Greeting

Food Manners

Examination of the Dog

Responsibility and Care
Gold
The Gold level is the highest level in the scheme, it builds on the skills learnt in the Silver level while it develops more advanced training skills. To be eligible to take part in a Gold test the dog must have passed the Silver test.
The Gold test comprises the following tests.

Return to Handlers Side

Walk Free Beside Handler

Stay Down in one Place

Send the dog to Bed

Stop the Dog

Relaxed Isolation

Food Manners

Examination of the Dog
